Sadly when you are out hiking and camping the water available on your journey is probably not a safe source of hydration when drank directly and everyone should use some form of purification before drinking from these places.
There are many methods for purifying your drinking water when in the outdoors, ranging from simple to elaborate. At the minimum hikers should carry water purification tablets in their bag for treating water they intend to drink. These are very tiny and easy to keep in packs, glove boxes, emergency kits and anywhere else you find handy.
Another handy way to purify your water is with water bottles that have built in purification systems in them. These handy bottles make it as simple as fill and drink!
More advanced water purification micro-filters do a better job of cleansing the water you drink of potential harmful microbes, which can lead to serious stomach illnesses. These camping water purifiers not only make the water safer to drink, but they also remove some of the bad taste that is sometime present in water.
