Backpacks need to be light and yet capable of carrying large loads of needed supplies without malfunction. These also need to comfortable on the waist, back, and shoulders when fully packed with all the essentials needed for the conditions and terrain to be encountered by the backpacker.
Camping tents are very important to backpackers, as they will usually be the only shelter available to them for miles. Since the tent must be carried in it should be lightweight, and fit easily into the backpack. Backpacking tents come in sizes based on the number of people they are designed to sleep. These can range from 1 – 4, with 1 –2 man tents being the most common for the backpacker in the wilds. Tents are also rated for how many seasons they function well in. Most backpackers tend to use a 3-season tent, with those extreme winter travelers using a 4-season type.
