Why Pitchpine?

Pitchpine Mountain lies on the eastern side of the Zirkels in North Park. The area is known for various mineral springs including sulfur, iron and lithium. The Lithia springs at the basin below Pitchpine Mountain were once fabled as the fountain of youth. These tales are probably false and were likely concocted by trappers trying to keep miners from camping in the nearby Little Red Park which was a popular hunting ground.
